St. Kitts Map Locus Google Satellite View
The island of St. Kitts is located about 200 miles southeast of Puerto Rico at 17°15’N, 62°40’W. It is part of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. Both islands cover nearly 104 square miles, with St. Kitts being twice as large as Nevis. A two-mile channel separates the islands. A rugged mountain range dominates St. Kitts’ interior, with Mt. Liamuiga reaching 3,792 feet. The range splits and forms a fertile valley which reaches to the sea port and capital of Basseterre. Waterfalls, rain forests and many streams may be found along the steep slopes and ridges. The coastal areas and the valley are well-cultivated, primarily with sugarcane, the islands’ principle crop. Black, volcanic sand beaches dot the north shore, while white sand beaches line the southern coast.
Both St. Kitts and sister island Nevis had been relatively undeveloped until just several years ago. Currently, the islands are quite in vogue and gaining dramatically in attention. Global interests have scurried to investigate this little federation. The government has proven to be very cooperative to varied investment and development interests. Several major new deluxe hotels have been constructed and others are under consideration.
St. Kitts is currently a popular destination for those seeking to establish a business foothold in an accelerating economy. All sectors of business are needed: retail, restaurants, marina/diving services, general business services, light manufacturing, medical services, construction, and quality hospitality management services. With the construction and deployment of a comprehensive port facility and availability of strategic land parcels the island is witnessing very positive growth.
